At Aegis Shutters, we believe craftsmen should stand behind their products. We also believe that American homeowners should have access to high-quality, affordable solutions to protect and beautify their home. For the past 25 years, we’ve been delivering on both promises, delivering protective, handcrafted, functional exterior shutters made from durable Spanish Cedar to happy customers. Here’s our story….

A lifelong woodworker and craftsman, Wayne Dutcher founded his original shutter company - Dutcher Shutters - in the year 2000 in response to the demand for high-quality, functional exterior shutters across the Gulf Coast of the U.S. “Honestly, I just couldn’t stand the cheap, poor-quality shutters that I was seeing on otherwise beautiful homes across the southern United States,” says Wayne Dutcher, Founder. "I knew I could deliver a superior product while maintaining an affordable price point that could bring high-end craftsmanship to homeowners, so my company was born.”

Originally based in Atlanta, Georgia to support the early 2000’s housing boom in the area, Wayne relocated his base operations to Southern Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina, working with builders, community planners, and homeowners in a commitment to rebuild more environmentally thoughtful and historically accurate exterior experiences across the Gulf Coast. “I love the South’s commitment to preserving historical accuracy on their buildings while understanding that the ever-evolving climate requires a new level of consideration to provide necessary protection,” adds Wayne. “My mission has always been to deliver a product that feels both timeless and internal - a creation that seamlessly integrates into its environment as if it has always existed, while promising unwavering presence for generations to come."

Over the past 25 years, Dutcher Shutters has served thousands of customers in protecting private and commercial structures from environmental conditions, all while providing a high level of custom craftsmanship that is rarely accessible for many of today’s homeowners.

In late 2024, Wayne re-imaged his company as Aegis Shutters to support a national expansion initiative, bringing his and his team's high-quality, custom craftsmanship to customers across the nation. We are honored to serve customers seeking both innovation and heritage, delivering shutters that arrive with the comforting familiarity of old friends, yet standing as silent guardians of quality and function for all time.
